A parent, sister, brother, next of kin, or person interested in the welfare of a minor may file a petition with the court to become a guardian for a minor. The minor is not obligated to attend the hearing on the petition for appointment of a guardian, unless directed by the court. The court may, in its discretion, appoint an attorney to represent the interest of a minor at the hearing on the petition for appointment of a guardian.
If you think a guardianship may be appropriate or are involved in guardianship proceedings and would like representation to help you understand and deal with this complicated process, CONTACT our Florida Trust Lawyers by email or call us at 904-685-1200 to discuss your situation today.
