Standby Guardian
Upon petition by the natural guardians of a minor or an appointed guardian of the person or property of an incapacitated person, the court may appoint a standby guardian. The standby guardian assumes the guardianship duties immediately upon the incapacity, removal, resignation, or death of the current guardian. Within 20 days after assumption of duties, the standby guardian must petition for confirmation of the appointment, and the court must confirm the standby guardian if the person is qualified to serve.
